Excitement builds in Telluride as Ski Season Approaches
|
The trees have shed their leaves and the buzz of snow-making machines fills the air…two sure signs that ski season is on its way in Telluride, Colorado. Visitors and locals alike have a lot to look forward to with a new lift and two new restaurants on the mountain.
The biggest news this year is the addition of a new lift-served bowl at Telluride. The Revelation lift is nearing completion, perched on Gold Hill ridge. This high-speed quad lift will open up 400 additional acres of skiing. Runs in the bowl will be a challenging mix of rock features and steep pitches of a rolling groomed trail down the middle. The resort’s vertical drop is now one of the larges in North America at 4,425 feet, with 3,845 vertical feet lift-served.
Two new options will tempt hungry skiers way from the slopes. Near the top of Gold Hill, guests can have lunch at the new Alpino Vino restaurant and wine bar. Lunch time choices will include fine wines, cheeses and appetizer plates. For those whose tastes run more toward specialty beers, the Hop Garden at the base of lift 4 is the perfect spot for a ski break or an après ski drink. Located in the old Skier’s Union space, the restaurant will have hot and cold selections plus 10 specialty beers on tap and craft beers featured daily.
